Performing in the city has been a dream come true for The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, due to his profound admiration for The Beatles, who significantly influenced his music career. Yesterday, he had a reunion with one of his musical idols and close friends, Paul McCartney, when the latter returned home to Liverpool.
The duo made a special visit to the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), co-founded by Sir Paul, sparking rumors that Sir Paul might join Springsteen on stage at his Anfield concert tonight.
This wouldn’t be the first time these two music legends have shared a stage. Most notably, Bruce was a special guest during Sir Paul’s headline set at the Glastonbury Festival in 2022 when he was 82 years old.
They’ve also performed together at Hyde Park and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Tonight’s gig marks Sir Paul’s first performance in Liverpool since his 2018 Freshen Up show at the M&S Bank Arena.
Sir Paul has previously graced the Anfield stage in 2008 for the Liverpool Sound concert, celebrating the city’s year as the European Capital of Culture.
Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street band are famous for their legendary live shows, inspiring a dedicated fan base worldwide. This week, Springsteen fans from all over the world have flocked to Merseyside, creating a festival atmosphere that will be remembered for a long time.
The Liverpool performance on Saturday marks the last UK stop on the Land of Hope and Dreams Tour. The tour will next hit the stage at Berlin’s Olympiastadion in Germany on June 11.
The remaining cities on the tour itinerary include Prague, Frankfurt, San Sebastian, and Gelsenkirchen, with the grand finale set to take place in Milan on July 3.
